Finally, a rainy day. The last couple of weeks, the weather has been magnificent. Every day sunshine with temperatures around 20°C. So (little) daily adventures were prioritised above writing, filming, editing, producing (music), etc. As stated before, the vlog thing remains a bit of a struggle. Due to a few things, but mainly — I don't like walking around filming everything I see and commenting on it. It looked appealing to do — but on many occasions I find it more of a drag and I'm certainly no "natural".
Furthermore, I actually don't want to share every beautiful, peaceful, serene spot, that I come across, with the "world". Japan has, at the moment, an overload of foreigners not just visiting but often disrespecting the country and being boorish. I certainly don't wanna add to that by dishing out beautiful tucked away little paradises — so the average punter can go disrespect it. And another reason why I can't be bothered to (constantly) document my stay here is — I'm not here as a tourist. I'm in the process of migrating here.
My permanent stay here will be possible only from May 2027. Which gives me ample time to organise things back in Cuntsville (Europe).
So yes — a very rainy day today here in Ohara, Japan — which provides the opportunity to do a bit of writing and perhaps edit and glue a little video together ('cause I do film a bit occasionally). It probably won't have any narration on it though — that's the part where I feel I'm certainly no "natural" on the whole thing. I see plenty of vlogs on Japan/travelling that are just super good — editing, narrating, etc. — at times as good (or sometimes) better than a BBC documentary. I can't top that in any way — so better to not make a fool of myself and do something I feel more comfortable with — making videos and brew some silly tunes and soundscapes to sauce over it.
So better make use of a rainy day or two (hopefully not more) and try to be a bit creative. Because as soon as the sun comes out, yours truly — needs to do some walkies. As for someone who enjoys walking on a daily basis — Japan is (just like living in England was for me) — a walker's paradise. But today that won't happen since there's a typhoon-like wind out along with the rain.
So, coffee, obanyaki (おおばんやき) and some creativity today... have a good'n ya'll. 🙏
